Your memories, in your hands

Keep a copy of what matters.

Your account keeps your reading life together. A personal export gives you a copy you control.

Let a save finish

Wait for “Kept in your private space” before closing or changing devices. If Prause says a copy is waiting to sync, keep it open and reconnect. An unfinished recording is not yet a saved memory.

Export your memories

  1. Open Prause on the device with your latest memories, and let recordings and keepsakes finish loading.
  2. Open My space & backups and choose Export full backup. Prause checks that required media is available before creating it.
  3. Save the file somewhere private and easy to find. On iPhone or iPad, use the share/save interface to keep it outside the app.
  4. Keep another copy in a secure place you control.

A full backup includes your private text, recordings, photographs and videos. The downloaded JSON file is not password-encrypted. Protect it like a diary; do not put it in a public folder or send it to support without agreeing a secure method first.

Restore a full backup

Choose “Restore a Prause backup” and select your exported JSON file. Missing books are added with their included media; matching book IDs are skipped. It does not merge two different versions of the same book. Wait for sync, then check your memories and playback before removing the original backup.

Earlier saves and interrupted recordings

Earlier saves can help recover a recent change, but are not a separate archive of every historical recording. If a recording is interrupted, reopen the same account on the same device and check for recovery. Recent seconds may be missing; keep or recover the draft before clearing device storage.

Shared devices

Ordinary sign-out may leave an account-scoped recovery copy on the device. On a shared device, finish saving and use the sign-out option that clears this account’s device copy. Copies on other devices and exported files need their own cleanup.

Service backups

We keep encrypted recovery backups of successfully synced content and the account information needed to return it to its owner. These support operator-assisted recovery; they are separate from your personal-export restore button. They cannot include changes that have not synced, and recovery is not guaranteed. Protected copies can remain after an account is deleted; see the privacy notice for retention details.

No backup can promise zero loss. Keep a private export of memories you cannot replace. For recovery or deletion help, contact bookishbaddie18@gmail.com.
